Hi all. I've held out for a while on this, but I just had to give in. Chance me! What are my chances for getting in with a Columbia girl? I hear that it's best to apply early, and show a commitment--is this true? We all know Barnard is much less selective but, frankly, I'm not interested. I have standards.

Basic Stats
-5'10. Kinda short, I know. I'm going to re-measure my height in the morning. I hear you can get a height boost then. Besides, it's okay to exaggerate a little--I hear they don't really check.
-From big, west-coast city, where standards are loose
-Led high school in suspensions (i hear the bad boy hook is much in demand)
-Blood alcohol level hovers around 0.08, top 1% of population.

Extracurriculars
-All-city drinking champion (Sophomore, Junior, Captain Senior Year)
-All-state smooth talker

Recommendations
-Most of my exes would portray me as a jerk. However, my mother and father have hinted that they would speak of me highly to potential mates, and they're pretty eloquent.

Experience
-My first girlfriend was a 5 hr a week commitment. I had to leave her, however, as the time commitment interfered with my extracurricular activities.

Essay
-My essays/love poems are rather juvenile, but I hear the readers don't pay much attention to them anyway.

Basically, I'm really nervous about all this. I'm about to apply to a Columbia girl right now, actually, and would like to know my chances. A lot of people say it's a crapshoot, or a numbers game, but still, comments--good or bad-- would be appreciated. Thanks much!
