teacher recommendations: BOTH USC ALUMS! <3

please please be honest. I really would like to go to USC! if anything, please tell me how I can strengthen my application to get into SC!

Your GPA, tbh, is ugly for a place like USC. Really ugly. Average is a 3.6, so you are in the bottom 25% at least. And your SATs, while not bad for a place like USC, isn’t exactly a highlight. Then, based in inference, I will assume you are a Japanese female. That doesn’t help either.
To be honest, USC is a high reach, even with your recommendations. Alumni is nice, but it won’t push you over the edge. Unless you skills with the pen are amazing, it will be hard to imagine you going to USC. However, improving your SAT scores will definitely help. The other UCs seem to be low reaches, as well as UTA, WFU, and ASU (though libing in Cali would help).

thanks for your honesty. Im ranked #22 in a class of about 500 students… I’m above average? I have a 3.82 unweighted gpa, when I mean I didn’t do stellar it means it doesn’t weigh up to the students that are accepted to USC and i’m not japanese. i’ll work on my personal statement. thanks for your advice!

I had a 4.0, great recs and extra currics, and a 26 ACT and got turned away by USC, but it wasn’t my #1 school and I just applied because I wanted to be accepted. I didn’t really plan on going there. I’d say your chance is 50/50. I think you get into all the others though.

Chance me please. I am currently at a university majoring in pre-dentistry. I’ve taken 42 credit hours thus far (39 passed) and have a 2.67 overall GPA (along with 20 credit hours I have a 4.0 that I took while in HS that will factor in when I’m a senior). I’m shooting for above a 3.0 at my current university to go along with the 4.0 I have that transferred from the AP college classes I took in HS. What do you think my chances are to get into a good dentistry school after my undergrad? What should I do to strengthen my chances other than make high on the DAT and increase my GPA?

No to USC you need a 4.0 or above they will absolutely not take anything else unless you are a Benefit to them ( ex youre parents donated a building or they are Steven speilberg lol) any who! Ucsd is tuff also anyway to bring up that gpa?

my gpa sucks! /: university of san diego is different from ucsd! ucsd isn’t really my place! if i get rejected next year, i might go to a community college and then transfer because it is SO HARD to transfer from one four year to another. there isn’t really anything I can do anymore, my junior year is basically over. I’m going to rock my senior schedule and send my mid year report and see what happens! hopefully they see that I REALLY want to go there. thanks for the advice both of you! (:
