<p>okay guys chance me?
my top schools i want to go to are UCSD, UCLA, UCB... UCSD being the highest..
my sat is 1820 (but im retaking in nov. this time actually STUDYING LIKE CRAPmy goal is 2050+ and i think i can make it.. im discovering many new things i never used before.. i am improving my english score..)
Statistics!</p>

<p>CA resident</p>

<p>Subject test: Spanish: 620
Math: taking (best subject so its a high for sure)
Biology Taking (im re-learning, but i like biology so its fun!)</p>

<p>GPA (10-12) is 4.44
i think that makes my UC GPA about 4.2</p>

<p>I have gotten the letter to submit ELC application. which i have done.. now im waiting to see if i got in?!?!?</p>

<p>Extra curriculars:
--Indian Club (just indian stuff. i am the royal chef- i make the food and bring it to the club.. we also hold sporting tournaments, and stuff like that)
--Social Justice-Senior Year: basically help out the animals, etc.
--SlumDogs: gather money for the poor people of India. Senior Year
--me and my friend are thinking about opening a fencing club (i cant fence, but im sorta good). and when we do.. we would have tournaments nad gather money for charity, etc.)
--National Honor Society Senior Year
--I have self-taught to speak, write, Sanskrit
--Self-taught my self Hindi
-- that being said i can speak English, Gujarati, Spanish, Hindi, and some sanskrit (i can pronounce the verses nicely, but the spelling is meh!)
--i write poems and stories for fun</p>

<p>Community Service:
--Freshman Year: used to volunteer at a homeless shelter (where we bascially cooked, and served food to homelss people) it took a couple hours a day.. and a side question (would i include hours from actually cooking or would i include only the serving.. cuz i was a helper in the cooking too)..
this happened on and off ( i got busy and all) but estimated hours are maybe 100+ (could be more could be less, have to ask my parents)
--Some temple service: 20 hours +</p>

<p>Work Experience:
worked at a hotel for about 1---1 1/2 years.. did some maid work, then got promoted to front desk!.. i work only during busy seasons so i was there all summer long.. about 4 hours a day.. and over school its on and off.. i go when they need me. but im thinking about starting again</p>

<p>Major- pharmacology.
note: i tried to volunteer at scripps hospital.. but it was full :(</p>

<p>On UCSD applications. do you have to specify how many hours or how many years you have volunteered or done Extra Curricular?</p>

<p>I don’t know much about the UCs but if you do get that 2050 (although 2100+ would be optimal) UCSD would become a match.
You really need to do well on your other two subject tests (750+) to make up for that low Spanish score.
ECs are decent but I doubt they matter all that much for the UCs. Focus primarily on your scores and GPA.</p>

… i really appreciate it… 2100 huh? ill see. that might be what i might get… as for the subject test… idk? math will be easy! and biology i might be able to pull of a 700?</p>

<p>Hello. Your strong GPA is a plus for these schools. If you work hard and increase your SAT scores, maybe up to 2050-2100, you should have an excellent shot at your main choice UCSD. Even if you can increase your SAT scores substantially, UCLA and UCB will still be hard to get into due to their highly competitive nature. To have a truly good shot at these two, you should aim for close to a 2150-2200 SAT score. Your extracurricular activities show that you are very involved in your culture, which you should definitely incorporate into your essays. A bit of advice, although I am sure that your SlumDogs activity is for a very good cause, that term is highly offensive and colleges will almost certainly look down upon the use of such language. If there is anything else you can call it on your application, it would look substantially better to colleges. Good luck. Please give me advice as well.</p>

im majoring in pharmacology… thats why i chose UCSD, cuz of their medical/science programs!</p>

<p>my no. 1 university is UCSD, and then berkeley and all… i live near UCSD so i dont want to pay for dorms, etc.
and being vegetarian … food is really really important to keep an eye on. so yeah</p>

<p>I’m going to be going to UCSD in the fall. I think increasing your scores will help you a lot. Last year, when I was in your place, I found an old cc thread with a link to a google doc chart that outlined the ucsd point system. Use that and it will give you an accurate idea. (I was far beyond the projected cutoff, and sure enough I was admitted) good luck!</p>

umm write. so i did waht ngstar said… calculated my UC score… and you wont believe it… i was 1000 points short. the funny thing was (pause) haha i used the wrong GPA. ised 2.2 instead of 4.2 hahaha… i guess my brain is pretty out from the SAT overdose today… (im in a lot of stress … and I REALLY REALLY want UCSD)</p>

<p>btw. for the UCSD points will learning sanskrit and hindi by myself qualify me for points or is that a LA and Berkeley thing?.. and i have submitted the ELC application, so maybe i will get it? (i hope so…)</p>

<p>and yah… studying for SAT is a no. 1 priority. :)</p>
