Currently, I have a 3.8 GPA, but I've had up to a 4.25 in past years. I took two SATs my junior year and ended up with a totaled 670 R, 550 M, 670 W. The math didn't change from the first time because it's my weak point. (I'm mostly made up of verbal intelligence.) :(

I'm taking 2 AP courses (European History and Literature) this year and I took one last year (World History). Honors courses all the way through high school. I'm the President of Drama Club, have been stage manager for 2 years and involved backstage for 4, a member of French Club, Quiz Bowl, the marching band (4 years), a school-wide community service club, National Honor Society and I've done volunteer work for a local food bank.

I sent in my application and letters of recommendation from both my Stage Director/AP Lit teacher and Gifted Education teacher a few weeks ago (really regretting dropping the ball on this and not doing it sooner) and last week received an email from Adcomm about my essay standing out among the rest and saying my letter will be arriving soon. I took this as a good sign from reading various posts around here, but my friend who also applied to Pitt (and was rejected) received a similar email. She has significantly lower stats than I do (dropping honors courses, lower GPA, etc.).

My plan is to major in Linguistics and take as many foreign language classes as I can fit in. I'm hoping that since Linguistics isn't a very widely-known major, my chances may be higher but I'm not really sure that's how acceptance works. :P

All of my friends and teachers that I've vented to feel that I have a good chance of getting in, but I'm such a worrywart. Help me out? :)
