Chance Me? (It's short and i'll chance back if you ask)

So I'm applying Reg Decision as a freshman for BME

UW GPA: 4.00, W GPA (9-12): 4.3, W GPA (10-12): 4.6
SAT I: 800 CR, 800 M, 740 W
SAT II: 800 Math II, 800 Chem, 770, Bio/E, 760 US History
AP: Calc BC, Chem, Bio, Physics B, US, Eng Lang, all 5s. AP Art Studio: 3
EC that I put on Common App: 300+ community service at various places, 3 years of track, (not varsity), some art studio every week for more than 4 years
Recs: probably decent, Essay: avg at best
California resident.

You have awesome scores and a great GPA which will be a huge plus. The only downside I see may be in your ECs because I don't see any one focus/passion. That won't hurt you too badly though. Overall, JHU for you will be a high match/slight reach maybe just because BME is ridiculously competitive.

You can chance me back if you'd like. My thread is on the next page.

Bump..........

your scores are stellar and i think you have a great chance. are you a minority?

Yes I am Asian and I moved to the U.S. when I was ten, but i dont think being Asian helps at all lol.

hey i moved here when i was 10 too! but i went to an international school so i guess it really doesnt count.. hahha and no it definitely doesnt help. its like.. almost a burden in college applications :x it sucks.

Ahahaha--Asian = not a minority.

Asian = you better have good test scores. Or else your parents will disown you. I'm currently struggling to avoid the latter statement.

But your scores/curriculum look strong. Although... activities/leadership?

defiantly high match, ur ECs could bite you

chance me back!

Joe - Asians are definitely minority, we just don't get any minority benefits whatsoever lol.

afitcher - if you want me to chance can you give me the link for the thread cause you have a lot of chance threads and idk which one to do.

SoCaliii - I think you have a great shot - my prediction is that u will get in
What are my chances? I know my SAT Reasoning isnt great

Asians are not minorities when applying to colleges... Also, I agree that you lack passion/focus in your ECs. That will hurt you, especially for BME.

wow...your stats are pretty awesome!!!!

"IBs (including this year's: 5 FRENCH, 4 CHEMISTRY[li] "
[/li]

Lol what? That's really really average... doesn't go with the rest of your stats...

oops those were SL exams last year - teacher hadnt taught a thing lol

what about sat?

Ahaha yeah, that's what I meant about the minority thing. It basically doesn't count. So unfortunate... sigh.

Oh, wait! Chance me back! >> http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/johns-hopkins-university/614095-your-favorite-another-chance-thread-3-a.html

And since I didn't really specify earlier, it looks fit-ish to me, with consideration to test scores but since Hopkins doesn't stress them, your EC's might pull you down a bit. Soo... slight reach, in my unqualified opinion.

pvtejasvi - I think while your scores a avg at best it's up to JHU admission officers to decide how they'll weigh in the amount of EC you have. I'm pretty sure its enough to get you in though. : )
