Captain of the women’s soccer team at my school. I also play in the Bogota Soccer League and won the national sub 18 championship.

I am also in the school varsity volleyball team.

Editor in chief of school newspaper.

I compete in salsa dance competitions. I choreograph salsa numbers for a dance class at my school.

I did an exchange to a school in Singapore in my sophomore year for 2 months.

I was a junior counsellor at a summer camp in Maine for 2 months.

I did a two month long immersion in a town in France, where I studied the language, two summers ago.

I was part of a group of students who went to houses in a rural district in Colombia to read to locals and donate books.

I tutor about 4 hours a week

I applied to all the Ivies (Got deferred from yale ea) and to Duke, Stanford, Northwestern, USC, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, and UChicago.

Since I am international, most of these schools are need aware. So, I didn’t apply for financial aid to Stanford, Brown, Penn and Columbia.

I applied to Math and Econ.

I am really nervous, and really want to get into a good school. However I know they are highly competitive schools. I just want to know if I have a shot.

I think you have a lot of impressive accomplishments. My one question is if your family can pay for your tuition. If you need financial aid and don’t apply for it just to increase the odds of admittance, what good does it do to be accepted and have to turn it down because you can’t pay for it?

@helpingmom40 Yeah I know it’s weird but my parents are in a financial situation where they could potentially pay full tuition, but it would still be a big sacrifice and they rather not. Given that they are able to pay for it and it could hurt my application, they offered to pay full tuition to very selective schools like Brown, Penn, Columbia, and Stanford (Princeton, Yale and Harvard are need-blind for internationals). For the other colleges I applied to they wouldn’t make the sacrifice of paying full tuition. They aren’t “good enough” for their standards

Did you apply as a recruited athlete?

@daunt18 as an international student it’s very hard to get recruited. And my coach didn’t know how any of it worked and neither did my college counselor. I never thought of it until later on, which maybe wasn’t the best choice. So I didn’t have time to make a video or do any of the separate application

@daunt18 sorry I made a different account on my phone cus I forgot the password

@soccergirl2020 I think you’re as qualified as they come. Make sure you’re happy wherever you go, and when you get two or more acceptances, visit to find your best fit. I’d love to see you at Princeton!

@daunt18 thanks for being supportive. I know I’ll be happy and make the most out of wherever I go! I would love to go to Princeton!

Did yo apply to any safety?

You’re a good applicant, but you haven’t applied to a single safety school. Each of those colleges is a reach for all. There will definitely be other international applicants who are as qualified as you. What’s your back up plan, because it’s possible you will not get into a single college you listed above.
