I’m just really really nervous and keep checking this thread… lame? i think yes. but i’d really appreciate a reply if anyone gets a chance.

a 570 on SAT math puts you in a pretty bad position. you should raise it to at 650+ to even have a chance.

If you look at the statistics of the accepted students under early decision you will see that people with high SAT’s and low grades didn’t get in, whereas the reverse happened. I would say that the #1 factor that Columbia considers is your GPA. It seems that they care of what you are doing right now…

To be honest, that math score might kill you at Columbia. On the bright side, Eugene Lang will be very happy to have you. Barnard might forgive the math score for the amazing writing/english scores, and I don’t know enough about Vanderbilt to help you. Don’t give up, though! If Columbia’s your dream, try the ACT (sometimes people do better on the math section on the ACT, it’s a different approach to the subject), or study really hard and try the Jan. SAT!!!

reach… I think your test scores seriously hold you back.

and Columbia, contrary to popular belief, is actually really really really selective. I’d say about as selective as yale or harvard.

Where are your subject tests?

a 570 in math is gonna seroiusly cripple your app. most also attach a math level 2 on their app, and I honestly don’t know what your math skills are right now. the rest of your app. looks decently solid so try to raise your maths and you could have a shot.
