Languages: I can speak Spanish relatively proficiently (5 years, enough to carry a conversation). I took one year of French and didn't really like it. I can read Latin.

The Colleges:

First Choice/ED: Dartmouth (My grandfather and my great uncle both attended. I'm hoping that since I will be applying from a less competitive area of Ohio and because I have legacy, my chances may increase)

Universities: Georgetown, Northwestern, University Chicago, University Virginia, Washington University in St. Louis, Tufts

Liberal Arts: Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Middlebury, William & Mary, Haverford

I know I'm just a junior, but thank you for reading this. I just want to get a realistic evaluation of where I stand when I apply from Ohio. Thank you

Dartmouth: Reach, but quite possible
The LACs seem to be high fits, at minimum, and the universities are high fits through medium reach.
What about safeties and low fits?

For safeties I’m planning to apply to University of Michigan, Boston University, Kenyon, Denison, Bates (maybe even LSU, my dad’s alma mater). I have a huge amount of legacy at University of Michigan for generations and my mom attended Boston University and Denison.

The list is kind of …uhm…big…I’m trying to keep my options open and then shrink the list down for my senior year. Thank you!

BU is probably a fit. UMich is a high fit. For the others, it’s tougher to say.

I agree you’d definetly have a shot at Dartmouth!!

just bring the SAT up..

Thank you for reading! Yeah, I just got the scores today. I’m planning on taking the January now so that I can bring up the Critical Reading and even Math too a little.

Hi Harrison… (I was a little ‘sherlock’ of my own and figured it out)

All I can say about Dartmouth is that it is a fabulous place, and that you’re lucky you’re moving to Ohio. As a deferred ED applicant from Briarcliff HS in Westchester, NY, I know how much it stinks to come from a place that is far from fitting the “geographically diverse” category. Lucky you.

P.S. Good work at rehearsal today? : )
