Chance Me / Looking for More Matches

I’m unsure if my matches are truly matches or if I’m being wishful. I’m struggling to find good matches because I’m so overwhelmed by the different factors that I need to consider during the process. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I am interested in Mathematics, Education, and Political Science.

UW GPA: 3.99
Weighted GPA: 4.5
SAT (new):
PSAT: 1370 (waiting for confirmation of acceptance into Hispanic Recognition Program)
ACT: 29 (trying to pull it up to a 31 or 32 in June!)
AP’s: Euro (3) Currently taking AP Calc AB, APUSH, AP Environmental Science. I plan to take AP Lit, AP Calc BC, and AP Gov. Senior year
Class Rank: school doesn’t rank because my class is so small
School: Catholic School with a strong academic “reputation” (the school’s average grades and test scores have been declining but I guess our reputation hasn’t really changed)

Extracurriculars: Campus Ministry Vice President, Mock Trial Pre Trial attorney, Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Soccer, NHS, Student Ambassador

Volunteer/Job Experience: Over 90 hours at local non profit and Church’s youth group. Brief 2-week internship at the Department of Education. Student Poll Worker for 2016 election

State: CA
Ethnicity: Latina
Race: White / Black

Schools:
Beyond reaches: Yale (legacy), Harvard (legacy)
Reaches: UC Berkeley, Georgetown, maybe UCLA?
Matches: UCLA(?), George Washington, Reed,
Safeties: local college which gives out lots of financial aid, UC Santa Cruz (77% admit rate for residents)

UCSC is probably going to have a much lower acceptance rate this year so I would put in as a Match not a Safety. All the UC’s have been really tough admits this year and many applicants with good stats like yours have been shut out of the UC’s. UC’s also do not consider race/ethnicity in their admission decisons.

UCLA should be in the Reach category.

Since you are in-state CA, add some top Cal States such as SDSU/Cal Poly SLO and CSU Long Beach as solid Safety/Match schools.

@Gumbymom thank you!
