Major: ME,
GPA: 3.62 at UCLA.
GRE: 161+170+4.0
I have three researches, with 3 letters of recommendation from each professor. No intern/work experience.
I know MS admissions value research experience while Meng value work experience more, but I really want to go to work after grad school (instead of phd)
Im applying to Stanford, MIT, Princeton, Umich, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, UIUC, Cornell, i dont need funding
Any thoughts/advice?
MEng usually has a bit lower admission standards. If you are interested in heading right to industry after the Masters, the MEng is more suited to your needs. Your GRE scores are strong and the GPA is good (but probably not the top one in the pool) so I would say you have a decent chance at at least half the schools you mention and a non-negligible chance at the others.
If it helps, I am applying to a lot of the same schools with very very (eerily) similar stats to you but for Statistics/related programs (many of the programs rank similarly to ME just by virtue of the quality of the universities).
GPA: 3.62 @ similar “caliber” state school
GRE: 161V, 170Q, 4.5AWA
1 Research Project/Thesis
2 Years of Related-Industry Work Experience + 2 Internships
Applying to Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, CMU, UW, Columbia, NYU, Harvard.
Best of luck to you!
Good luck to you too!
