Where do you live? I think that is an important part of the application process. They have plenty of kids from the Northeast! From random states with good essays you are in. They need a balanced freshman class. Although your EC’s may be weak. I bet you have more.

@2022soon I’m from Connecticut, does that cut down on my chances of admission?

As for EC, yeah they’re pretty sparse but that’s all I have to show. Unless Orchestra for 2 years counts, but my school counts that as a class.

1480 is solid, I bet you are in! It just makes it harder being from the NE, applying in the NE, without any major related or interesting EC’s. Did you apply anywhere in the South or California? Geographic diversity, minority status, 1st generation college student, plus other hooks… all these factors are important. It’s so hard to guess when people don’t list those. Whenever I see low scores that got in, I assume they were one of those. But your SAT scores are great. My college counselor said AP tests do not really matter. Not sure if I believe him!

@2022soon Yeah, I’ve applied to California with UCB, UCLA, and USC. I’d say they’re all pretty hard reaches for me, lol. Thanks for the input!

The UC’s give no financial aid to out of state students. Can you afford $60,000/year for 4 years?

I bet you are in at USC for sure. Especially if you visited.
