Can I still get an A?

I only missed two points in the class so far. The final was a beast. It is worth 45% of my grade.

Is the final curved a lot?

Is the final curved a lot?

Thats how I am. I got destroyed on that final and I also only missed 2 points.

Yeeaah duuuude hahaha, so it wasn’t just me?

It felt like the midterms weren’t representative of how hard the final was. Do you think there’s going to be a big curve? Since the final’s 45%, even missing a bit drops you so far down :/

How badly do you think you did on the final? Because the 10 series aren’t really … curved, because they don’t need to be. If you think that you just missed one question on the exam (ie: an entire 6-pt problem) then you’re fine. If you think you missed more than that, then, you could potentially still be fine, but there isn’t a hefty curve like in the 20 series that you can really rely on.

Oh well. Not much to do other than wait.

I hated that final though. I’ve breezed through that class since I’ve gone through Calc before and I havent worried at all. And looking at our midterms and last year’s final I thought it was going to be easy. This thing just walked up and slapped me in the face.

I know I missed a four point optimization one and I might have missed another one as well. I just started to go for partial points on the ones I wasnt sure on

Yeah seriously. I looked at the previous finals and I could do them pretty easily.

What was up with this year’s…

When I left the room, half the class was still taking the thing.

if you think 10 A is hard, you chose the right Math series.

We’re not saying that we think its hard… we thought one specific test was hard which, if you ask a majority of the people who took the test, will agree.

I took 2 hours on it because I kept going back and rechecking my work (luckily I did because I found 2 very costly mistakes) and there was still over half the class still.

What professor do you have?

I have Stevens. But they all collaborate on the final, so it doesn’t really make a difference.

I was just wondering. I had Weinkove

lol Did everyone think this final was hard or was it just us?

Well all of my suitemates and housemates that are enrolled in the class thought they were killed by that final. About 1/2 of them are thinking they may have to retake the class.

And I’ve talked to quite a few people after the test that I know and they all said they thought it was really hard. There was only one person that I know that thought it was pretty easy and that is a girl who I know has taken AB then BC over the summer. She said she took it at college where the credits wouldnt transfer over so she could have a very easy class

Dang hahahhaah I hope the curve’s gonna be good then.

I talked to my suitemates too but they laughed because they were all in like 20 series or 31 honors.

Hahaha.
I’m really mad about that test too. I should be in either 10B or the 20 Series as it is. I’m mad that I struggled that much on the final.

Oh well, I guess its a good thing I didnt advance yet

lol what college are you in?

I’m in Muir. What about you?

i’m in sixth lol
i got kemkes next sems

Stevens class won’t have much of a curve, but Weinkove’s will. Since Stevens is a good professor, most of the students in the class will score higher overall… compare the averages from the midterms, and you’ll see that her class scores slightly higher.

I had Eggers for 20A in the fall, and our averages on the exams were always a couple points higher than that of the other professors’ classes. Since the exams are departmental, they test all the 20A students in the fall with the exact material and curves can be distributed accordingly. Eggers’ class only had about a ~5% increase in final grades, whereas some of the “not so good” professors had up to 10% of an increase on their final grades.

Oh well. I’m not going to fret over it, what’s done is done.
Kemkes was actually my back up. But in the end I got Eggers for 10B

that final was pretty hard compared to our midterms. I hope you guys do all right in the end.
