Chance me on Wellesley (EE), Smith, or Barnard?

I didn't get a single response from the "Chance Me" section of CC, so I've decided to take matters into my own hands and come ask for some answers here. I'm into my second semester of junior year, and I need to start narrowing down my college list. I know that Wellesley is my top choice, and I'd like to see what I can do to improve/help my chances for admittance- since it's super competitive.

I would apply ED to improve my chances, but I can’t for financial reasons :/

In my opinion, your stats look very solid. At this point, your best bet is to keep up your grades and try to get the highest scores you can on the AP tests you plan to take this year. Also, I’m pretty sure Wellesley requires a couple of SAT subject tests, so now might be a good time to figure out when you’ll take those and what subjects you’ll choose.

Do you have any summer plans? It might help to look into an internship, job, class, or volunteer opportunity. Doing something productive during the summer looks good on an application and can help you narrow down what you’d like to do in college and beyond.

Though you don’t have to worry about this yet, I should note that Wellesley places a lot of emphasis on the supplemental essays and letters of recommendation. Do you have a teacher or two who know you well enough to write a good letter on your behalf? Also, it’s important to note that alumna interviews usually need to be scheduled before the application deadline, so it would be a good idea to keep an eye on that next Fall.

You probably already know most of this, but I just wanted to be sure. I know that the next year or so will be pretty stressful in regard to college applications, but you look like a strong student with a good start on the process. I hope you’ll consider coming for one of the admissions office’s tours/prospective student days at Wellesley, if that’s financially possible for your family. I’m currently a junior at Wellesley, so please don’t hesitate to PM me with any further questions. Good luck with the college search!

Thank you for your reply! I will definitely PM you for any questions I might have. I cannot visit any out of state colleges until I’m accepted because of finances. And I’ve already planned everything that you’ve listed, but it’s good to have a reminder.

Everything looks good, but your reference to your 660 as “embarrassing” put me off a little. If I were you, I definitely wouldn’t go around complaining about that score to people, as many would be very pleased to get a 660.

I’m sorry about being insensitive. I guess I just got caught up in the whole CC thing since most people on here complain about having a 750 in a section, and contemplate retaking the SAT because they got a 2380.

I completely understand.
