Hey,
My GPA is about 3.47, I recieved a 1990 on my SAT's (600 Math, 690 Critical Reading, and 700 Writing), a 750 on the SAT II for US History, got a 29 on my ACT's, have taken/are taking 14 AP/honors classes in my high school career, have a lot of extracurriculars, and submitted an Intel project. I have good recommendations from my teachers and the deputy superintendent of my school district, and strong essays. Oh, and I'm from NY. However, I have been told by numerous people Richmond is a reach school for me due to my GPA, but I am hoping my rigorous schedule makes up for it. Any opinions on my chances would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jordana! I am the father of a UR freshman. I hate the whole concept of “chancing” since most of us who read this board are not Admissions professionals. BUT…I think UR is a reach for you. The upside is that Richmond looks at much more than numbers. Rigor of schedule is important. Have your grades been improving the last two years EC’s are important but more important than a laundry list of things you have dabble in is one or two ECs that you are devoted to and that have helped shape you. Your essay is your opportunity. Put a lot of thought into your topic and use it to convince UR Admissions that they really need Jordana on campus. Have others read it but don’t let them change your intent. Look at the profile of the class of 2014 and see how you fit in. (It’s on the UR website under Admissions)

Good luck! Let us know how it works out for you!

Your GPA totally depends on the rigor of your school. Your scores are solidly in UR’s range and 14 AP/Honors courses shows you are taking challenging courses. I would not be discouraged! If your school has Naviance, check out how you line up against others who have applied and gotten in (or not). As PA states, the process is holistic. Good luck!

it’s not a reach, it’s definitely a target! good luck to you. have you applied ed2 or regular?

Regular decision

jordana: relax, this is a target school for you - your numbers are in line and with the rigorous classes you have been taking they would be foolish not to accept you. Good luck!

^^ Just wanted to say that I loved the name. My Dad played ball at ND, so they’re my second favorite football team.
