Chance Me Please! Class of 2018

Hi guys! I'd really appreciate your feedback!

I want to apply to CAS majoring in Psychology. I lived in different countries for middle school and 9th and 10th grade but now I go to a pretty competitive school in New York.

GPA: 90.3 UW 92 W

SAT: 1650 (extremely bad but I am going to take it again in the fall)

EC's: Over 350 hours of community service, Golf Team, Basketball Team, Camp Counselor, Leadership roles for 2 different clubs in my current school and I have about 100 hours of work experience related to psychology

Recs: Most likely going to be really good!

Im also planning on applying to:
NYU
Fordham
Northeastern
Binghamton
Stony Brook
Syracuse
GWU

Thanks!

You should get into Penn State and Syracuse.

Stony Brook is either a high match or a match depending on your math SAT score.

Rest of them are reaches.

Thanks for your response, Xtremepower.

I took a couple of practice tests and got around 1970 and 2000. It might be lower on test day because of a lot of factors but if i get my official score above 1900 would I have a better chance for the others?

Assuming you applied with those stats and no improved SAT score, theres a possibility they could accept you for the summer program. Probably 100-200 points improvement would make you pretty solid for fall admission.

ya
get over 1720 for SAT and Penn State is gold.
But you should be alright now, your involvement is a huge plus

If you get 1900, you have a decent chance at:

SUNY Binghamton
George Washington University
Northeastern University
Fordham
Stony Brook

NYU is a high match. Try to get 2000+

I know this thread is slightly old…but here is a chart showing admission to PSU based on SATs and GPA http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart.pdf

You will definitely get at least a branch campus.
I realize that is probably not what you wanted to hear…
but if you bring up your SATs you have a good shot or if you check off that you would be willing to do summer courses on your application, then you probably have a good chance of getting into main campus.

Try taking the ACT, I had the same SAT score but scored an 28 on the ACT which is ~1850 which I think really helped me get in.
