MIT: high reach, Columbia: high reach, Duke: high reach, Northwestern: low reach, John Hopkins: reach (not sure why you would apply there as economic/finance major), Cornell AEM: high reach ( more competitive than Cornell admissions overall) otherwise low reach, NYU Stern :match/ high match (should have good chance here assuming essays are average)

Also post the size of your graduating class so that the 5% is put into perspective, also include the competitiveness of your high school. For economics and finance, why not apply to Georgetown as one of your match/ safeties? Since you’re applying to MIT, might as well apply to UPENN Wharton and Harvard as well as high reaches.

Georgetown would also be a reach for OP

@hqureshi11 the OP’s resume doesn’t seem that bad and Georgetown’s admissions really aren’t as competitive as the other schools he listed so I should think it would be a match

@blu5959 Graduating class about 350 and highly competitive. I’ll look into Georgetown thanks! Was considering UPenn Wharton and Harvard but idk yet…

@stripedpanda no problems! I just happen to know quite a bit about good schools for economics/finance cause I am another Asian student planning to major in those subjects. :)

@blu5959 haha cool thanks :)

I’m not familiar with NYU-Stern, but I can say that if you write good essays (This can’t be overlooked), you’d get into at least one of them. Cornell’s AEM is very competitive though.
As I said, a LOT would depend on your essays. Probably more than what we as applicants can imagine.
That’s just what I think. I too am an applicant like you.
Thank you for chancing me
It’s great to have someone assess his/her competitiveness :)

Your ACT’s are a bit low considering I dont think any of those schools superscore it (i could be wrong), but you have a good shot other than that
