Chance me please for Washington & Lee Johnson Scholarship

I fell in love with W&L after learning about the Shepherd Poverty Program. I did not do ED because my family was trying t figure out some things from a financial angle. It’s a long story, but my family falls above the threshold for need based aid, but due to some recent circumstances, I would need a lot of merit aid to afford private or out of state. So I appreciate you chancing me for the Johnson Scholarship

I’m new to CC so if I have posted this in the wrong place or anything, sorry!

A kid in my school actually just got in to W&L with almost a full ride and his score were a lot lower than yours.

Good to know. Do you know what kind of full ride?

Excellent stats! You are a solid candidate for any college or scholarship in America. Congrats for n the 35 ACT score, very impressive.

You look like a great candidate - but remember even if you don’t get a Johnson Scholarship W&L is very generous with Grant money. It seems the Johnson Scholar program is about more than stats so there is no easy formula. My son had a 34 on ACT, great grades etc. is not a Johnson but did receive a nice Grant. He is very happy at the school. Good luck!

Hey, I would just remind you there is no “threshold” for financial aid. The 75k/year number on the website only means that if your family makes less than 75k a year, you’re guaranteed full tuition at least (though many get room and board as well). Many people whose families make over that figure still get financial aid. I would say that if your family makes less than 200k/year you would probably still be eligible for some aid, especially if you have any other siblings in college/other aggravating financial problems.
