I fell in love with W&L after learning about the Shepherd Poverty Program. I did not do ED because my family was trying t figure out some things from a financial angle. It’s a long story, but my family falls above the threshold for need based aid, but due to some recent circumstances, I would need a lot of merit aid to afford private or out of state. So I appreciate you chancing me for the Johnson Scholarship

Class Rank: Parochial school doesn’t rank but top 10%, class <150 students
Recommendations: Should be good, written by teachers who really know me and have nominated me for honors in the past so I think that means they like me.
Campus Interview: Seemed to go well, also did local alumni interview
Essays: I think they were pretty good.
Service: >150 hours community services per year since 7th grade; active in a service organization.
Sports: Not a star, but 4 years varsity swim (captain senior year), 1 year JV lacrosse, 1 year varsity lacrosse
Arts: 3 years of honors choir, 4 years in a cappella group (including 2 leadership offices), 4 years in school musical, 2 years in school play, >5 years voice training
Clubs: NHS 2 years, Science NHS 2 years, Rho Kappa 2 years, Student Government Social Committee 2 years
Leadership: 1 year school honor council, various positions in charity organization, various positions in choir, team captain for swim, nominated for girls’ state (didn’t win), nominated for state community service award (results not announced yet)
Activism: Part of a co-curricular program in global service learning, some summer service travel, and doing a capstone project and Shark Tank type competition for that
