Okay so im a junior in high school right now.
My GPA at the moment is a 3.3
My ACT is a 28 (Retake and aim for a 30)
And SAT is a 2100

I know that I dont have the best grades, but i plan on getting them up.
Im an African-American Student, Male, and NYU is been my dream school.
I dont like the Finical Aid here, but i wouldn't care if it came to that. Other than NYU I really like Syracuse.
But any ways I plan on applying to the Preston Robert Tisch Center for a B.S. in Sports Management.
I think that this is school is easier to get into than most? Correct me if im wrong. But im not applying to PRTC just because its easy. Sports Management has been my dream "job" always too. Also I do a lot of extra curricular activities too.
My EC:
Student Council (VP Junior Year, and President Elect for senior year)
DECA, which is like business leaders of america. And I am president of that, and won nationals in my competition
I am the founder and president of the African-American Leadership Council at my school
I am the producer of the black history month show at my school
I am in speech, which has high prestige My school is ranked in top ten in the USA
I play varsity Basketball\
I am going to do an Intership in the sports management feild this summer. Not sure where yet, but it will definelty help me with my major.
I'm a golf caddy
I help run a National Magazine for high school teachers nationwide
I take AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Language and Comp (My junior year)
I play varsity baseball too.
I think theres more but I cant think of it.

So I know I don't have the best grades or test scores, but I know that colleges also look at your course load and extracurriculars so i believe that will "balance" it out?
What do you think? I know I can improve my grades also, possibly have a 3.65 by the end of my junior year?

I think you have a very good shot if you get your gpa up to the 3.65 as you said. Your extracurricular activities are very strong, your standardized testing is only slightly below average, and your ethnicity helps your chances.

Getting you GPA to a 3.65 is nearly impossible. A 3.33 is based off 2 years, so to get a 3.65 you would need around a 4.3 your Junior year–that only works if your school weights. Regardless, as long as you show improvement you have a shot with your good SATs and ECs.

I really don’t really know much about the Tisch center, but I have to say your SAT is very impressive! I would submit the SAT instead of the ACT and work on raising your GPA. Good luck!!!

i think your stats are on the mid-range for robert tisch… i know a guy there who had a 3.4 in HS and about your SAT score, and apparently a lot of his classmates are the same. just write good short answers to make yourself stand out :)

also i wouldn’t advise going into huge debt for NYU if it comes down to that… you don’t want to end up with $200,000 or something in loans right after graduation. there’s an article on here somewhere that talks about a girl who has about that amount of loans and her struggles in paying it off.

I feel like you’ll do very well. You have tremendous extracurriculars, a solid SAT, (with improvement) a decent GPA, and let’s face it, your URM status will probably help you significantly.

I can’t speak much about the sports management program since I’m in Stern, but I really don’t see much that would lead anyone to believe you’re a weak candidate.

i’d say if your gpa was a tad bit higher, you would have a great shot. however, the average gpa of accepted nyu freshman is 3.6…
your sat is excellent, act …not so much but its not bad
ec’s are great…
just remember to write a good essay and if you haven’t already, get really good teacher recs.
