So I know I don't have the best grades or test scores, but I know that colleges also look at your course load and extracurriculars so i believe that will "balance" it out?
What do you think? I know I can improve my grades also, possibly have a 3.65 by the end of my junior year?

I think you have a solid chance of getting in, especially since you are an URM. I’d advise not sending your ACT score- your SAT score is great, ACT not so much.

By the way, do you go to high school in Minnesota?

Yea I do go to school in MN why?

Oh cause of the speech thing you mentioned, just wondering!

you have a really good chance. your grades aren’t impressive, but mine were worse (3.2UW/3.7W) and i was accepted. your schedule sounds fairly challenging, but not spectacular. that said, it may have more to do with your school offering less AP classes than you being unwilling to take those classes. we have very similar SAT scores. i had a 2090. actually, i also had a 28 on my ACT…hahaha. don’t send in that ACT unless you can get it up to at least a 32, which is the equivalent of your SAT score. URM will help you and you have strong ECs.

You should definitely go interview in person and don’t be afraid to really open up about whatever has caused your grade troubles. the admissions counselors really do want to know what went wrong. Also, kill your first semester of senior year because they will weight this heavily if you discuss it during your interview (i had a 3.08/3.5 during my interview and told the interviewer that i was taking 3 APs and 2 post-AP level college classes, then he told me that if i did well in those classes, it would make my application much stronger. i had a 3.9/4.6 first semester of senior year, which i’m sure played a heavy role in my acceptance. i’m sure you can do the same.)

good luck!
