I’m a rising senior at IMSA, which is a residential school in Illinois for ‘smart’ kids. It’s pretty rigorous. A lot of IMSA people end up going to Case Western. I have a 3.79 GPA with my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. I messed up a lot sophomore year but I made a comeback junior year and nearly got straight A’s both semesters (I got one B+ in history). I got a 32 on the ACT the first time because of unfavorable circumstances, but plan to retake it and get around a 35-36. I’ve taken several APs: 5 World History, 5 BC Calculus, and I took Chemistry, Psychology, and Statistics this year (scores for those come out in July). Speaking of Calculus, I finished it sophomore year. My ECs are kind of weak (I don’t do student government or sports), but I am on the executive board for Medical Society and Yearbook. I also work as a camp counselor for IMSA camps over the summer through a club, and have accumulated 300 service hours from that, and I do a capella. I was a tutor for my residential hall this year, and will continue tutoring next year as a ‘Head Tutor’. I’m really interested in neuroscience, and plan to do pre-med in undergrad so that I can become a neurologist. I’ve done research this year through a program at our school at Northwestern University in neuroimaging, and I’m continuing my research this summer at the same lab. I’m not the type to go to parties; I plan to focus on my studies and have a close-knit group of friends in college to hang out with. I know I want to do a capella in college as well. Will CWRU realistically accept me, and if I can get accepted, is it a good fit?
Yes it will they take lots of ppl with way lower stats. If Case is your top choice I’d put extra emphasis to show it by applying EA and writing good essays. Since they offer a free application on the common app they tend to get a lot of really smart ppl that half-ass apply and never really intend to go to Case instead of as a backup so they defer (and sometimes reject) lots of ppl that they think are overqualifed who they think wouldn’t come if they got accepted. Your stats are well qualified for their range-- as long as you really communicate your interest well you’ll do fine!
Also note that Case tracks your “Interest”…so make sure to show interest. See this link for how:
OK thanks! I will definitely try to show more interest in Case then! Also, my GPA is 3.85, I calculated it incorrectly the first time
