Chance Me Please - NYU CAS (Transfer Spring 2016)

Hi guys, I’m currently in my first semester of college and I want to transfer to NYU for my second semester (unless you guys think I should apply for next year’s fall semester).

Here are my high school stats:
SAT: 2090 (690R / 770M / 630W)
ACT: 31 (27E / 36M / 26R / 35S / 28 Combined English + Writing (10 on Essay))
GPA: 3.6 unweighted / 3.9 weighted
SAT 2: Math 2 800 / Bio M 730
APs: Calc AB(5), Bio(4), Comp Sci A(5)

Extra Curriculars…:
Volleyball 11-15
Volunteering hours - 312 (At my public library + At some pediatrics place)
Started a breakdancing club at school 13-15
Work experience (Taught at Kumon for about 2 months)

Other stuff:
I know 3 languages - English, Chinese, French
Asian Male
Probably not applying for financial aid (If that makes a difference)

College stats:
School: Ohio State University
Major: Computer Science (Will be applying for CAS Computer Science)
GPA: ?? (So far doing good with my classes…but then again it has only been 2 weeks)
Credit Hours (by end of semester): 18 not including the APs
ECs: Volleyball - Club team
Future ECs: Kent State Hack-a-thon, Habitat for Humanity. Undergrad Research (Maybe)

Transfer Essay: A+++++
Why NYU Essay: A-
Reccommendations: Idk (Just one from my academic advisor)

One big question: Should I maybe wait till I complete my first year of college (apply for fall 2016 transfer) or do I have a good chance as is?

Why didn’t you just apply to NYU in the first place? Aren’t you just in your first week or two of college? Why not give Ohio State a chance? These are very early days for a new college freshman.

Well when I was applying last year, I didn’t apply to NYU because my parents weren’t willing to pay for the expensive tuition. However, recently my dad switched jobs and we had a discussion and now they are willing to support me if I wanted to go to NYU. I’m not saying that I don’t like it here at OSU, but I want to study Computer Science and minor in Business Studies and they don’t offer that here at OSU. I know it’s really early but NYU is my dream school.

However, if your parents are willing to pay, then best of luck to you! NYU is indeed a wonderful college…but so is Ohio State IMO.
