I am curious as to what my chances are to get into NYU, my dream school. I do plan on applying early decision round 1. (I’m a junior in high school)
Hispanic Female from TN. Child of immigrants and first-generation college goer.

ACT: 28 so far. I’ve taken it once but plan on getting at least a 32.
ECs:
-Vice President (two years) and President (one year) of Young Democrats club.

-Job
-Volunteered at a summer lunch program where I worked with and fed impoverished kids

If you need financial aid, it would be foolish to apply ED to NYU.
NYU is expensive & typically just offers loans. ED is a binding commitment.
NYU is very stingy when it comes to aid. Be careful.
Right now with that ACT I would say it is a high reach.
However, being Hispanic, a child of immigrants, and first generation helps you more than you think.
So, in conclusion, I would say low reach (25% chance?)
I’m a student at NYU. I got in last year ED2. Applying ED will increase your chances of getting in. Your GPA was similar to mine. My ACT was a 31. As for financial aid, it depends on what school you apply to. I got into CAS with a $50,000 scholarship. I’m barely taking out loans. However, I know some people in Tisch that barely got anything. If you really want to go to NYU and are worried about financial aid, start looking for outside scholarships now. Scholly is a great place to find some. Also, work really hard your first semester of senior year and try and get good recommendation letters from teachers you have a good connection with and did well in their class.
