I have a lot of awards, such as AP Scholar, but I don't want to list them.

I think you have a good chance even though your main SAT could be higher. I think your GPA and ECs make up for that though… And do you happen to know if Richmond is more focused on the stats or the resume when considering students for admission?

I would not think 1950 is “definitely in” based on the fact that there were kids who did not get in with much higher scores the past two years and importantly, even though UR took 940 students in last year’s class, this year they are targeting BACK to the 750 mark. Thus, admissions will be tougher. I would retake that exam. How many APs and importantly how did you score on them? Honors classes? Strength of curriculum? Good luck…keep the grades up this year…

Re targeting back admission…when we visited this summer, the adcom rep who ran our info session said the goal was to keep admissions up, not to scale back. The new construction seemed to reinforce the concept that the school is looking to grow.

Sunny7 - I’m not sure who you talked to, but the plan for this year is DEFINITELY to admit a class of around 750, as has been the plan for multiple years past and was the plan for last year but went horribly awry. The class of 950 this year was NOT intentional, but a mistake. Although there is a lot of construction on campus - the new stadium, the international center, the business school addition - these are all academic buildings and have nothing to do with increasing the student population, because quite frankly, there would be nowhere for them to live. Housing was already a big enough struggle this year, especially with all the juniors coming back from abroad next semester, and if they admitted another large class there would not be enough housing for everyone, considering the freshman are already overflowing into upperclassman housing this year.

Wow, thanks for the clarification. We listened carefully during the Information Session and the four of us who attended all heard the same thing - the goal was to slightly increase enrollment. Obviously this information was incorrect.

Just wanted to also state that the school is not looking to intentionally grow. It wouldn’t surprise me if the target number was less than 750 for this year’s class. As kellie said, there are a lot of projects going on, but it’s all for academic purposes. They’re actually renovating the dorms and are reducing the number of beds.

If the school is going to ever grow, it won’t happen before they tear down the apartments on campus, and build what was once termed “South Campus” where the IM fields are now. I don’t see that happening in the next 10-15 years, so…

Yes I heard that Richmond might be cutting back on admissions because of class of 2013 high yield rate, however Richmond’s SAT middle 50% bracket is 1770-2020 give or take. A 1950 clearly is in the middle closer to the 75% percentile so I wouldn’t be worried.

Hi
help me too
I am an international student from Ecuador, South America. I love Richmond and I really want to know if I have a chance.
SAT: 1800
M 660
W 580
C 560

I took the TOEFL to show my English proficiency and got a 104 out of 120 which is pretty good, and since my first language is not English it will help.

GPA: 3.8
(top 20% of my class)

I have take the AP Spanish test and got a 5, and the AP biology one and got a 3
This year I am taking AP Calc, AP English, and AP stats…

Activities:
Class president (9,10)
Student Government representative (11)
Student Government president (12)
Have volunteer in several different projects
president of a volunteer group that builds houses (raised around 20000)
Soccer team (9)
And a few more other things…

Thank you so much… I will really appreciate your help

You are all about academics/school. UR, IMHO, is looking for much more. You need some community ECs. Do you do any volunteer work? I think it is a reach, given the information you have provided. You need something that sets you apart from the crowd. Six APs your Sr year? That is quite a load. That could make you or break you. Nail a 2100 on your SAT, get into the top 15%, add some community ECs and your odds will be better. Just my thoughts. Remember the people replying to you here are generally not experts. Visit the campus and ask questions.

Agree with PAVenturer’s comments. UR doesn’t accept AP Human Geo credit (one of the AP classes that is considered “too easy”) and your senior load looks daunting relative to your Jr courses…and UR puts lots of weight on class rigor and grades, along with ECs. Have you visited? Talk to your UR rep about interest. Good luck.

I guess it is useless for me as an international student. I’m among the top according to those stats (CR 690, 750 M, 680 W, top 5%), but the competition among int’l students is rather tough…

Cermi - UR considers much more than your numbers. If this is where you want to go then really sell yourself in your essay! You never know what will happen!

Cermi, your stats are fine and U of R would be a decent match school for you. Before applying, evaluate your financial situation. Can you afford to pay full fare at University of Richmond? If your answer is yes, then send out the application.

Thanks for help.
However, someone told me that te best option is to apply for Richmond Scholars, unfortunately, it was only few days before the deadline, so I dont know if I have much of a chance.

And no, I cannot afford even the half, and so I think that I have made a mistake. Fortunately, it cost me only 70 bucks, nothing more :-D
