Chance me please..? rice=dream school..

I took two SATs. My best: 2110.
780: math, 670: critical reading, 660 writing.

Rank: 13/640 in a competitive high school in alabama (top 5% in the nation).
I take alot of AP classes and got all As. I have a rigorous schedule.

JV tennis: 9th grade, Varsity tennis: 10-11th grade (one letter received).

Secretary of youth group: 11th grade.
Alpha theta, english honor society, science honor society: 11th grade.

What are my chances?

So far they look decent.def. apply

couple things

 1. SAT II’s?
 2. Your EC’s arent the strongest

So what SAT subject test score range is acceptable for Rice? like 750+?

as high as possible. With the SAT, above a 700 in each is pretty strong. make sure the SAT II’s are over 700 atleast

lower doesnt disqualify you, but you are competing against many with 750+ scores

If I applied for Rice early decision, how much better of a chance do I have?

probably a better chance. but cant say. Statistically ED has a higher acceptance rate. if Rice is your #1 and you arent financially limited, apply ED

anyone else?

If Rice is your #1, then apply ED. Remember though, ED is full of overqualified and determined applicants so it is alot harder to claim a spot.

I was waitlisted from RD later declined. I think, however, one advantage that you have over most other applicants is the fact that you are OOS.

I’m Asian also, so will that help or not?

@wakka: I don’t think being Asian will either help you or hurt you.

Being Asian or not doesn’t help or hurt you haha. :)

Your grades/GPA and rank are great, especially for a school who’s in the top 5% of the nation, which will definitely help you. But your SAT scores, although your math and writing skills are just slightly above the 25th percentile, and your critical reading is just slightly above the 75th percentile, are okay. And what happened to your SAT II scores?
Your EC’s may be slightly lacking, however.

But based on grades/GPA/rank, and somwhat on your SAT scores, you definitely do have a chance. Write a great essay!

Good luck!

What type of percentile r u talking about and can anyone tell me what’s the SAT score requirement for MIT,Harvard and Yale. What should I do for SAT?plz reply through e-mail.

^ I don’t mean to be rude, but this is not the thread to ask that. You have to post a new thread at MIT or whatever college you’re interested in.

Anyways thanks guys!! Appreciate your inputs!

Thanks for chancing me
I think you’ll get in as long as your SAT IIs are in the 720+ range

think postively and you should be pleasantly surprised
