My first choice is UCSD then UCI then UCD

Stats
CC to UC transfer
GPA: UC(2.96) planning to get 3 As and a B this semester so my UC GPA will go up they are all UC transferable
Major: general biology
Alt major: psychology
TAG: to all 3 schools and got approved
IGETC: will be complete after this semester
EC: not much just did a bio mentorship
Prereqs: will possibly be missing 1 which is my last series of my bio classes (bio1C) due to space filling up will try my best to add. Also did not start my upper division such as
ochem & phyiscs

I think my TAG contract will be voided for UCD because they told me to take bio 1c and I might not be able to get the class

anyone??? thoughts???

please??

If you can get above a 3.0 transferable UC GPA after this semester you’ll get into UCI and UCD hopefully. Biology at UCSD is incredibly impacted… But since you TAG’d in, you should be okay.

@Pianocat: You’ll get in for your alternate major under TAG at UCSD, but I would pretty much guarantee that you won’t get in as a bio major. TAG is irrelevant for anything in the bio department since it’s heavily impacted. A GPA in the low 3s isn’t going to cut it as a bio major. If I were to guess, you’d be in at UCI assuming your GPA jumps up to around a 3.2. This all depends on how many units you already have, as they more you have the less your GPA is going to increase after this semester. I don’t know UCD well enough.

@lmendoza: TAG guarantees you admission to the University, but not a major. Since bio is impacted, TAG does nothing for it.

Thank you guys, yeah i know i probably wont get into UCSD as a bio major. But how come i will need a 3.2 by the end of this semester for UCI? is that to get in as a Bio major with TAG for UCI or just to get into the school with TAG.

Again thanks you guys for chancing me : )

Anyone else have opinions?

@Grimes: You’re totally right. I knew was forgetting something.

@Pianocat: If you’re 100% sure you TAG’d in correctly, you should be okay. I think what Grimes meant to say (I’m only guessing here) was that a 3.0 GPA for biology acceptance to any top or mid tier UC is extremely low and may even be too good to be true.

@Pianocat: I’m saying that in order to have a shot at bio at UCI, you’ll probably need something north of a 3.2. With UCSD, that’s probably up in the 3.5/3.6 range.

^ with TAG?? because you’re right i already know i won’t get into a bio major with that GPA. But i’m happy as long as i get into the school : ) thanks again

@Pianocat: Let me clarify: UCSD/UCI bio majors are imapcted, which makes your TAG useless for that major. You’ll get in to both schools in a non-impacted major (which you’re required to apply to as a secondary major on TAG if your first choice is impacted.)

Is your secondary major at both schools non-impacted?

it shouldn’t be its psychology

Not impacted. You’ll get in for that major.
