Chance me please!!! Uf and fsu

As applications are being sent in, nerves continue to grow.

I'm a senior with a 3.42 gpa and a comulative ACT score of a 27.

I have over a 1,000 service hours.

I was also elected Secretary of Student Council, President of Pre-Med Club, Treasurer of Future Business Leaders of America Club, Founder of the Stock Market Club, on the Varisty Lacrosse team for 3 years and was captain for one year.

Lastly, I have had a job for three consecutive summers.

What are my chances on making my two dream schools of University of Florida and Florida State?

Honest answers are appreciated, thank you.

Acarreras,

Are you in-state or OOS? What is your weighted and un-weighted GPA? How rigorous was your course load, did you take IB/AICE/DE/AP classes? Do you know your class ranking (neither school uses rankings, but it gives us some insight into class rigor). Your EC’s are great, but we would need to know more about your GPA/Rigor.

For UF your GPA and ACT are a little low unless you are in the top 10% of your class. For FSU I think you are ok, but your ACT could be a little stronger. Anyhow I think if you have a few AP and honors and you are from Florida you should be ok.

I am an in state applicant with a weighted 3.42 and unweighted gpa of a 3.36. Freshman-Sophomore year I didn’t take many honors courses, but my senior year I have 5 dual enrollments and 3 AP courses. My class ranking is 133/332. Even with great essay and resume, do I have a chance in making my dream school?

Alec Carreras

You’re GPA is low for FSU, but you do have a chance. About 12 to 13% of the enrolled 2012 class had a 3.49 or lower GPA. Your ACT is within the middle 50%.

You’re GPA is just too low for UF. :(

You should also apply to a safety school, like UCF, USF, etc. And of course, you could always go to a CC for two years and then transfer to either UF or FSU.

Good Luck!

The 12-13% accepted with my gpa is for UF? I have a a lot better chance of getting into FSU, correct?

Nope, the 12-13% is at FSU :(

At UF, only 2% of enrolled students have GPA’s below 3.5 (93% have a 3.75 or better GPA), and I would think most of these are recruited athletics.

I agree that you should also apply to UCF and USF. I still think you have a shot at FSU. I think UF is a long shot but the CC is an option if you are willing to go that route. UCF is a great school with very modern facilities, you should consider it.
