Chance me please!

Hi Everyone!

Starting to start the college application process and wanted to see my chances of getting into FSU for either Summer or Fall of 2013. (Graduating HS in 2013, just finished up junior year)

-I have a 3.65 HS Weighted GPA and a 3.2 academic GPA.
-26 on ACT first time. Taking it again in 2 weeks.
-Waiting on SAT scores still
-550 hours of community service
-Job running the tech department for a local business. Manage a $100k/year operating budget.
-Band for 2 years
-Editor in Newspaper
-In state

Academic GPA has me worried.... what are your thoughts? Thanks!!

What were your junior year grades? Go hard senior year.

What kind of classes have you taken? Your GPA isn’t necessarily as important as your course rigor.

All honors with one standard math class and 1 AP so far. Have 3 APs next year, the rest honors.

YOUR GRADES were…

3.2 Academic isn’t entirely pretty but get a 28+ ACT, try your hand at the SAT if you want, take a bunch of APs.

Or, if you really want to get admitted, get the SEC to extend a bid to FSU.
:)

I’d say right now it’s about 50/50. The 3.2 GPA with only 1 AP class is the worst thing there, since FSU doesn’t necessarily care too much about your SAT/ACT scores (they’re important, but not the most important thing).

If you dont have the grades, definitely try to get impressive test scores. And if you dont have great test scores, try to get good grades. And if you dont have good grades or test scores, see if you can help out with the Seminole offensive line next year. They need all the help they can get.

Hope this helps.

My son got in with a 25 composite ACT and a 4.1 GPA. Two years of varsity swimming and only 82 volunteer hours. Mostly honors classes but no AP. We are also instate.
