Chance Me Please!

hi! i'm applying to fsu for fall 2014 as an international freshman. i'm japanese and i've never lived outside the country.

my stats are...
sat:1710 (cr:540/m:640/cw:530)
toefl:103
gpa:3.1(uw)
tons of extracurricular activities

i know that my sat and gpa are low, but idk if ill retake the sat since i have to study for japanese university entrance exams too (which are intense).

i have a couple of things id like to ask since i cant find much data about people who were admitted as an international freshman.

first of all, is fsu somewhat more lenient about test scores when it comes to international students? i know that the minimum score for toefl is 80, so im ok with that... was wondering if the school will consider my toefl scores for my low cr scores.

second is about my gpa. in japan, we dont have any AP or such coerces that you guys have in the states. however, japan offers a more high leveled education until entering university compared to the US. i heard that in general, we complete math studies by high school that is equivalent to two years of university math studies in the US. also, because we have high school entrance exams, we know our school rank (each school has its own deviation value). the school which i go to is... when considering the deviation value, the top in my prefecture (prefecture is like state, province...) and 143th/3664 in japan. if its just a school ranking, 2nd in my prefecture and 77th/6980 in japan. so, its a pretty ok school. is there any chance that fsu will consider this (you can find ranking data on the internet, tho its in japanese)? or will they just see me as a student who didnt take any AP classes?

i only took the sat once on Oct. 5th. ive submitted all documents by Oct. 16th except my sat scores. fsu told me that they would do their best to consider me for the early decision making after receiving my sat scores. my college board account said that my scores were sent on the 22nd, but my fsu online status check still states that they havent gotten my scores... i contacted them again and was told that fsu usually takes a few weeks to get sat scores. any idea about when my scores status will be updated? im freaking out since theres no one i can ask for help! (i live in the countryside so no one around me know how all the application process for US unis work)

also, to those who have submitted their resume. is your resume on your osc? mine surely isnt...

thank you for your time! sorry for making this long.

I submitted my resume and it is not on my osc either. To see your resume, you have to log back into your freshman application portal.

Your SAT is on the low end, so you may be waitlisted in early action and then accepted during regular decision.

The academic profile of the middle 50% of freshmen accepted in 2013 was:

1730-1960 SAT total

thank you! yes, i have noticed that i could check my submitted resume there, but i wasn’t sure it was normal for my resume to not show up in my osc! it’s a great relief to hear that :)

if i do make it even in the wait list, do you have any idea what my chances may be if i reach a score around 1730-1960? i mean, do people usually get accepted if they get a good score after being in wait listed? because in Japan, being in the wait list usually mean that you won’t be able to get in, but was close to be accepted…

anyways, thank you ipodsinger!
