Personal:
My father passed away when I was 11 years old and it really impacted my life since he was the sole-provider for our family.

I am Hispanic and my family's income is less than 20K a year. I live in Miami, Fl.

I am a good writer and plan to write a great essay on my common app. about my father's death and how it forced me to become the man of the house and to strive for success no matter the odds.

My brother is a Bowdoin alumni and is currently a law student at UChicago.

My main teacher recommendation will be written by my Italian teacher who has taught me for 4 years.

I wrote a letter to the CEO of Chase and had my home's loan modified.

So what are my chances at each of the schools? Oh, and if any information is missing, please let me know.
Thanks guys!

You have a good chance at all of them.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback! Anyone else?

Agreed- strong chances all around. You’re unique and don’t read like every other application, which is definitely good. Good luck!

Yes – I think you will have many great options. One thing I would suggest is making sure you apply to diversity fly-ins programs this summer. Bowdoin, Williams, Middlebury, Hamilton, Colby, etc…all have programs (and lots of other schools). These programs are huge precursors to getting admitted (and they are free for you – and give you a chance to spend time on campus. I am sure you already know at lot of this from your brother. You can start showing interest now by getting on the mailing lists, etc.

I’ve looked into these summer programs and will continue to do so in the coming months. Thanks for the advice, I’ve learned practically everything I know from my brother and I feel it’s a good thing to hear it from someone else.
