I’m a poor Hispanic male from Florida targeting top schools. One of my parents passed away when I was younger.
I’m in the top 5-10% of my well-regarded public high school
33 ACT, one sitting
I’ve taken the most rigorous course load available at my school and have received 5’s on 7 AP exams and one 4
My senior schedule consists of all AP’s
EC’s: I’m president and founder of 1 club and VP of another club at my school
I’ve competed at the national level for both of those clubs
I play a vital role in my family business and that takes up a lot of my time
I have more ec’s and a few awards, but I want to make this quick.
My list:
Bowdoin College
Dartmouth College
Williams College
Middlebury College
Hamilton College
Trinity College
Thanks! If you need any more info., just ask.
Dartmouth: reach for everyone
Williams: low reach
Middlebury: match
Hamilton: safety
Don’t know enough about Trinity or Bowdoin to give you accurate information.
Don’t know a whole lot about these colleges but I’m not gonna lie, based on the fact that you’re a minority, are poor, have participated actively in clubs, and have taken AP exams + rigorous courses, you most likely have a fantastic chance at getting into any one of these colleges. I would also say that if you’re planning on applying for financial aid, you’re in an extremely good position for that as well. In general, I would say that your prospects for applying to college look really good.
Thanks guys! College has been my dream since I was little boy and I’m so close right now!
I agree that you have a decent chance at all of them. I’d give the same assessment as delineated with bowdoin a low reach and trinity a safety/match
Honestly, I think you have a good chance for all of these schools because of your life’s story. Unlike most people with your stats on CC that come from affluent families and have an “anxiety/depression hardship,” yours is actually real and it hasn’t affected your grades. Stay humble in your essays and you will be a highly attractive applicant. You are also a URM, which adds even more to your application. Academically your well within range for all of these schools, and your ECs look about average for accepted applicants as well, with demonstrated leadership in 2 clubs as well as having to work for the family business. This being said, I’ll give you these chances.
Bowdoin College- high match
Dartmouth College- low reach
Williams College- low reach
Middlebury College- match
Hamilton College- match
Trinity College- low match
I would be surprised if you didn’t get into half of these schools given the strength of your application.
Could you chance me back? Thanks
