Hi!
I’m currently a senior at a private high school in California. I’m really really interested in going into medicine, and I know Emory has a great reputation for their premed program and their proximity to the CDC. Here are my stats:
GPA Unweighted: 3.77
GPA Weighted: 4.22
Old SAT: 2250
New PSAT: 1460/1520
Chemistry and Biology Subject Test: 720
Math Level 2 Subject Test: 750
I’ve taken 8 AP’s (including the ones I’m taking right now), and of the 4 AP’s I’ve taken the exam for, I got 5’s on all of them.
As for extracurriculars, I volunteer around 7 hours every week. I spend 4 at a non-profit organization in affiliation with a hospital ,that gives lifestyle management advice to prevent and manage heart disease and diabetes. I spend another 3 hours at another organization that works with children with developmental disabilities. So I’m pretty heavy on volunteering.
I’m not involved in any sports because I have a congenital medical condition, but I’m really involved in the performing arts. I am the current president of my school’s competitive chamber choir, and I’m the founder and president of the acapella club at my school. I’m a member of the California Scholarship Federation and NHS. I’ve competed at a state event for singing and I got the highest rating. I also take a lot of singing lessons outside of school. At school, one can find me singing and performing at multiple events throughout the year.
I feel like I do a lot, but looking at some of the other prospective applicants, I’m a little worried about my chances. I would really appreciate it if you put this into perspective for me. And please give me your honest opinion! Trust me, I can take it.
