Hi!
I’m a rising senior and I’m not sure how likely my acceptances are for the schools I want to get into. I’m applying to 9 schools.
Safeties:
GMU
VCU
UVT
University of Oregon
Matches (more like low reaches tbh):
Lewis and Clark (top school)
Franklin & Marshall
Dickinson
The New School
Reach:
Elon (lol never gonna happen)
Both my parents have gone to college but not graduated- not sure if this makes me a first generation college student or not? My income is lower middle, and I’m a white female.
I have a 3.25 GPA weighted (yes, I know this sucks) and I took the ACT in June without studying and got a 30, when I take it again in October I’m thinking I can get it up to a 32 or 33.
Academics:
I took 5 IB classes my junior year- IB Econ SL, IB HOA HL, IB English SL, IB French SL, & IB Bio HL. I got a 5 on the Econ exam. I’m taking 4 IB classes this year- IB Econ HL, IB English SL, IB French Lang/Lit, and IB Math Studies.
Extracurriculars:
I’m president of our young democrats chapter, an editor of the yearbook, member of our french honor society, journalism honor society, octagon club, key club, women in politics, and a club that helps out elementary schools in the area. I participated in a global student leadership summit and designed energy saving prototypes, as well as a STEM institute where I built some 3D printers. I play field hockey, was on the swim team, and managed a soccer team. I’m also a local ambassador for the Women’s March.
Work:
I intern for a lot of local political campaigns and I was the design intern for a congressional campaign. I’ve worked at a coffee shop since my sophomore year and got employee of the quarter last month.
I know my grades suck and there’s not much I can do now to change my GPA other than try really hard this year. What are my chances of getting into L&C if I get my ACT score up and get all A’s my first semester of senior year?
