Hi,
Hope you’re doing well! My honest opinion is that with these top schools it is a complete toss up. But you need to remember that you have a 0% chance if you don’t apply, so applying in itself is a chance in its own right IMO. With that being said, since you didn’t ask for a sappy pep talk I’ll answer your question without beating around the bush based on the research I have personally done and heard. But by no means is there anything that I’m saying is a fact, im not an admissions officer, anything I say could be flat out wrong. Your GPA is the one thing I would say is def not working in your favor. Typically these schools are more forgiving with a 3.9 GPA which is in fact the average GPA for Princeton kids, however they are forgiving because kids got this GPA since they overloaded on AP’s. If that is your GPA, and you didn’t get that GPA because it was an ap class, that’s slightly worrying. HOWEVER, these applications are looked at as a whole, and you def def def def def def compensated in other areas which just might save you. You have wonderful test scores, and you def showed promise through the EC’s . Since you did not have the AP’s to show that you are ready for their ivy classes, your test scores how that you are ready, you took subject tests which is really good, and you have again like i said good ec’s in one focus area. if you can really play on that in your essay’s and teacher recc’s then you have a chance and should apply and have confidence. and my best piece of advice is to get off CC there are some annoying ppl on here and it will scare you and make you insecure. there are so many things i have applied for where i looked at cc first and started to tell myself i had no chance and that im dumb. worry about no one else, do your thing, and apply with confidence. because at the end of the day kids with 4.7 gpa and perfect scores don’t get in. and there are people with your stats who do. as long as you do what you love and that shows through in your application that is your chance right there. good luck! And on a separate note, if your’e taking that many ap’s on your first go, hit hard from the first day because it will be hard. and you do not want them to see that your first time taking ap’s you gt bad first semester grades. i took 2 my sophomore year, im taking 5 junior, and will be taking 7 my senior so at the very least i know what im in for. not to say your’e at a disadvantage, it is never too late, but don’t underestimate it. buy your prep books now over the summer on amazon, personally i think princeton and barron’s are great, use the content review sections to study for each unit throughout the year. so that way at the end of the school year when the exams roll around, it will be your second time reading it. also pace out the assigned reading, and do not depend on your teacher. you never know if you will get a bad teacher so be ready to take things into your own hands. anyway there are a lot of typos in this because im tired and didn’t proofread, but whatever the mesage is there. good luck man and don’t doubt yourself, you have put in hard work.

Also, if you are as low income as you say you are, do yourself a favor and look at the questbridge website. you’ll thank yourself

you apply to the schools you listed through their website and if you get in then they give you a full ride

When you apply does your first 1/2 of senior year gpa go into it? bc if not my uw and my w gpa would be 3.6-ish and i’m really depressed about this because I had a lot going on in freshman year (my family was constantly fighting, our finances was bad, and i wasn’t motivated-- i know these aren’t excuses but thats what happened) and its going to ruin my chances a lot, but I don’t want the colleges to think i’m a lazy kid. I want to show that I was unmotivated, but that changed since and i have an upward trend.

GPA is def really important, but it is not everything, if you can show how you turned that weakness into a strength then that can work in your favor. Still try and if it does not work out the ivy leagues aren’t the only schools that produce successful ppl. Just make sure you apply to a safety school if all else fails. And no, im pretty sure your gpa does not include senior year BUT i know the grades quarter one if u do early action OR first semester are crucial.

I’m sorry for repeatedly annoying you, but I’m very strong in the maths and the sciences, if I self study for ap’s and take them without taking the class to show my strong side would that be put into consideration. Like I wouldnt have taken the ap classes in junior year but I would take the test and send my scores in (if they are good), would that work for me or against me? sorry for asking so many questions, no one in my family has gone to an american college/uni so I don’t have anyone to ask.

and how would I send my recs on questbridge? I thought teachers recommend on commonapp

someone pls answer these^^ im so confused
