All honors classes freshman and sophomore year, and all IB classes junior and senior year
I’m not sure if first semester senior year grades are considered, but if they are, I had a 4.23 gpa last semester.
So let’s say your unweighted GPA is a 3.5. If your stats are 3.5 and 1370, I would call JMU a low match.
Why:
JMU’s admit rate last year was around 75%
If your GPA is 3.5, that’s well within range. They say that GPA is Very Important.
Your SAT is above their 75th percentile score. While test scores are merely Considered, your score will definitely help.
Since we don’t know your exact unweighted GPA, we cannot day for certain, but given their admit rate, a reasonable GPA estimate, and your shining SAT result, you should get into JMU. I might not call it safe, but you should probably get in.
I think you will get in. Their Early Action (which is much harder to get in) was accepting people right at about your numbers. I expect people with 3.6-3.7 to be getting in regular decision. Your SAT is pretty decent too.
Did you send them your first semester grades - can’t hurt as you did a great job and should be proud of it.
While Tech is waitlisting people with 3.8 I think waitlists at JMU will be in the 3.6 max range.
