This really IS my last post. It just popped into my mind. Okay, is it possible for me to go to the College of Staten Island for 4 years and get my Bach in say.. Education(They have a 100% acceptance rate, I'd definitely get in..)

Then once I'm in, I go find affordable housing in Staten Island.. I'm estimating it would cost about 60 grand in student loans to do all of this.. Is this a possibility?

I think most people borrow around that amount to get their Bach, and dont worry. I actually DO want to become a teacher; I just didn't want to spend crazy amounts to get my Bach in History Ed, so I settled for Paralegal at the time. Honestly, I swear I have been wanting to become a teacher or in something with law since I was in Elementary School. Thanks..

Most people borrow nowhere near $60K. Average student loans total below $25K. Most could not borrow that much if they wanted to, it’s way above federal maximum and would require private loans with a qualified cosigner.

Didn’t you want to be a paralegal last week?

Teaching jobs are very hard to get now unless yup teach math/science or special Ed. A teaching credential will take a 5th year and you will need to be prepared to go where the jobs are. Lots and lots of out of work experienced teachers. And if you’re lucky enough to get a job, having loans exceeding what you’ll make in a year will make living tough.

If you were my son I’d sit you down and try to help you see that you’re compromising your future by trying to live your NYC dream for college. Unfortunately going OOS to college is for the wealthy and those with high stats. Borrowing that kind on money means not having a normal life, delaying home ownership, having a decent car, affording kids.

I don’t have an idea as to how people from Europe go to school here then; this is rediculous.

I’ll be completely honest with you, I’m not an idiot or anything at all, the issue is my home life. I could probably write a book about how depressing it is. Anyways, I just really want to get as far away from my parents as possible.

If there’s a way I could stay here, in state away from my parents and have housing, then I’ll do it. Me staying here just is not practical.
