You’re on good track for NYU. You should consider taking SAT IIs, although I don’t know if they’re required for acceptance into NYU. You could maybe even aim a little bit higher, such as UMichigan or even Carnegie Melon.

It could be better, and of course, the lower your GPA, the lower your chances (From a realistic standpoint). But the GPA requirement for NYU isn’t THAT high, and you do have a 4.0 weighted GPA, so you should be fine.

@ Amon, what school did you apply to and what year? A lot of people tell me that it’s very difficult to get in so NYU is currently one of my reach schools. Thanks!

Stern is a lot harder then the other schools, followed by CAS. Steinhardt’s academic majors are known to be the programs you can get into with lower stats then CAS. And anything you audition for in Steinhardt and Tisch is based 50% on your audition/portfolio. What are you interested in studying?

I want to go to CAS and study chemistry or economics. I heard that CAS accepts the most people of all the schools but doesn’t it get the most applications?

Yes, it gets alot more applications. Good luck. I applied to CAS for chemistry this year, and my SATs are a 2000, 3.74 uw weighted gpa. But since I applied RD I won’t find out til March probably. But when I do I’ll post if I’m accepted/rejected. Subject tests aren’t required. You ONLY have to submit either 1. SAT 1’s, which you have and they’re good scores for NYU. 2. 3 Subject tests/AP’s (I believe it’s like one english/history, one math/science, and one of your choice). or 3. The ACT’s with writing. (All of this can be found on NYU’s admission website). Since you have times, maybe take the ACT’s or subject tests and compare your scores (it should be easy to find ACT/SAT comparisons online, and the SAT II’s are on the same scale as the individual SAT sections.) That being said, keep up your GPA and even with your current SAT scores you should be fine. Just, since your only a sophomore, you can improve on some stats, and then maybe get decent scholarships, because NYU is quite expensive. If I get in, I’m not expecting to be able to afford it, but I’ll get loans to cover what grants and the little money they’d give me won’t. lol
