I am a rising senior. I haven’t had a chance to discuss my latest college list with my guidance counselor, so I was hoping for some feedback (basically wondering whether I’d placed the schools in the right category) before I showed it to her in September. Do the schools I’ve identified as reaches/matches/safeties seem to be in the right place?
Thanks a lot for any help (:
If you’d like a chance back, leave a link to your thread and I’ll definitely get back to you!

REACH
Columbia
Tufts
Bowdoin

MATCH
Colby
NYU
Lafayette
University of Washington

SAFETY
Franklin & Marshall
Dickinson
Skidmore

Personally, I’d say to do your best to raise your GPA in the time you’ve got left, as that’s your sore spot; your other stats are great as long as you improve your math SAT and they should give you good chances at the matches and safeties on your list (so far as I know of them).
Some reaches in general (like Columbia, which is one of mine too!) are reaches for everyone due to low acceptance rates. Tufts looks good besides for your GPA as long as you can raise your math SAT. Bowdoin I have no clue about :(.
Honestly, your GPA will probably be a stumbling block. If there is any way for you to raise it, I’d say do so, but it is definitely possible that your other stats can make up for it.
Good luck! :)

thanks! (:

I’ll be applying to either Bowdoin or Colby ED if that affects my chances in any way!

My main concern here is knowing whether I’ve sorted the schools into the right place.

Some of your matches are a bit low-reach, but not overly so, like NYU. The problem is that I don’t know too much about some of them so I’d say discuss it with your guidance counselor anyway.
Depending on college deadlines and requirements, it might be a better idea to work on your GPA and apply RD instead of risking admission with ED. Just a thought.
And not to sound like an Indian giver, can you chance me?

Thanks!! I chanced you back :D

Hi, I’m also in the IB Program as a senior and I saw you were going to HL economics. I didn’t know that was even offered as an IB course; is that specifically offered at your school only?

No it’s a pretty common one, all of the IB schools I’ve heard of offer it (:

Any other input? :D

Yea you have a chance, so apply. Check me out and chance me (:

hey cris88, I tried going through your profile but my computer is having problems so I couldn’t find your thread…can you leave a link?

Hey guys!
I was hoping someone could help me judge my chances at Tufts if I applied ED…it looks like it could be pretty much my dream school but I’m not sure if I have a shot…

I think you definitely have a chance at Tufts, but your GPA is sort of low for the school. Work hard this semester to elevate your GPA, so when they ask for your grades in the Spring you’re set. But don’t get too attached in case something goes bad. Also, make sure your essays kick ass! You do have a shot. I know you probably don’t know anything about transferring, but chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1388093-what-my-chances-getting-into-ucla-transfer.html
