That’s a very competitive resume for BC. BC adores leadership experience.

pretty good

thanks a bunch for your input, i got differed by Michigan and my chances for that aren’t looking so hot, so i’ve recently began exploring my other options.

If anything BC is a harder admit statistically than Michigan, so if you’re feeling uncomfortable about UM then I wouldn’t get overly comfortable about BC.

FWIW:

For BC your GPA is average to low-average. Your SATs are near the 50th%-tile. You seem to have plenty of APs and EC’s. I’d characterize your chances as “average”.

Frankly, if you’re in-state, I think you have a good/better chance at Michigan.

I’ve heard that students who come from Jesuit schools tend to have a much easier time getting into BC; but im not sure if thats not just gossip.

I suspect going to a Jesuit high school doesn’t hurt your chances, but I’m not convinced that it makes it “much easier” to get into BC. The problem with rumors like these is that they’re usually based on a couple of observations and incomplete information, e.g., Over the last 5 years 10 students from your school with your stats have gotten into BC while others have heard that students with similar stats at the local public were rejected. The problem is you don’t know how much of it is true or the entire profiles of all the applicants.

Regardless, statistically you’re an “average” applicant to BC. That’s not an insult, it’s an acknowledgment of the fact that BC is an upper tier college attracting a lot of highly qualified candidates. Given what you’ve told us about yourself I suspect you’ll be accepted, but I don’t think the tipping point will be that you attended a Jesuit high school. It will be that you performed well while taking a rigorous course load, were involved in your community/school, and wrote some excellent essays.

Last year BC accepted 31% of applicants; with apps up this year that number will fall. Michigan, your other school, had a 48% admit rate last year, but the switch to the Common App has resulted in an 18% increase in applications, which seems to be the cause behind all of the deferrals this year, i.e. they’re overwhelmed and are waiting to get a better sense of the entire class before making final decisions. Deferred is not denied. I personally think you’ll be accepted at both, but statistically (GPA/SAT) you’re a stronger candidate at Michigan - that means I think your chances are better at Michigan (if you’re in-state), that doesn’t mean you have no chance at BC.

Thanks a bunch for the help, just kinda getting antsy; I would really like to know where i’m going to college.

I know, as well as everyone else here, knows how ya feel. April comes soon enough.

GPA: 3.6-3.8 UW

The difference between having a 3.6 and a 3.8 is very significant-- particularly so at the more selective schools like BC. So, if your uw GPA is a 3.8, your chances are much better than if it is a 3.6.

Realistically its probably a 3.7
