-Tulane
-UW Madison
-UConn (I’m in state!)
-McGill
-Fordham

you said your gpa was 3.6 UW freshman year and on an upward trend. is it at 3.9 UW now? or is it 3.9 UW overall? e
except for that i would say you would probably would get in to Amherst and UConn. ( i dont know the other colleges you have mentioned) If you dont get into the storrs UConn you would at least get into the branches. You might have lower chances for Amherst because it is out of state. But it also depends on your major.
P.S i also applied to UConn and it is my 1st choice. Hopefully, you and I will get in!
I think you will get in at UConn, Fordham, Tulane and have a very good chance at McGill, Mt Holyoke and Wisconsin. BC and Barnard could go either way, the rest are reaches or far reaches.
It will be important to understand your UW GPA. For top schools there is a pretty big difference in admit rates as you go from say a 3.7 UW to a 3.9. Your test scores are more lop-sided than one would normally see. The 720 and 750 scores are quite good, the 610 less so. You have solid EC’s and some activities outside of school. Working is always good. Here would be my guess as to your chances:
Amherst, Middlebury - chances not so good
Wesleyan, Barnard, Colby, BC - reasonably good chances, will boil down to how well you write your application
Macalester, Tulane, UW Madison, UConn, McGill, Fordham, M.Holyoke - very good chances
Your artistic side and probably strong writing / reading skills may well get you into Amherst or Middlebury. Another factor is how competitive your high school is. CT is kind of a bipolar state with very wealthy school districts and strong public schools in some areas and less strong schools in other areas
Tulane and Colby have identical stats for their freshmen classes, and I believe MaCalister’s are very similar as well. For Tulane, you cannot go by stats alone. Tulane cares very much about how much interest you demonstrate in the school and whether you are a good fit for what they are trying to achieve – i.e., community service to New Orleans, in addition to strong academics. I do hope you wrote the Why Tulane essay and either visited campus or attended a local event. A note to your admission counselor indicating high interest, and articulating the reasons why, could go a long way. I am not trying to be discouraging at all. It’s just that this year’s freshman class is way too big and they need to pare it down, and the 13 spot increase in USNWR ranking, putting it closer to where it was before Katrina, will further increase the yield. New Orleans has always been a special, unique place, and is more so now. The school plays such a supportive and important role in the welfare of the city. In any event, follow your heart in this process, stay centered, and do what is best for you. Good luck!
