Hello! Please help me out :P I'm thinking of applying EA (SOM)

Unweighted GPA: 92.6 - fairly competitive school (Bronx HS of Science: avg gpa of acceptance is 90.4)

AP Tests Taken: AP Statistics (5), AP Chemistry (5), AP USHistory (3)

AP Courses being taken now: AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, AP Comparative Gov't and Politics

I think my course load is pretty tough - I'm taking classes like Linear Algebra and Differential equations, was in honors chem and physics, research class for 3 years, etc.

SAT Reasoning Scores: Reading: 680, Writing: 680, Math: 800. Total: 2160 - Retook in October
SAT II Scores: Chemistry: 760 (2nd try), Math IIC: 790

Extracurrics: Concert Band (4 years), Math Team (1 year), Math Bulletin (1 year), Internship at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on work of biochem proj (going to be submitted to Intel, Neuroscience Comp, BioGene, NYCSEF + others, play drum set (have had lessons for 4 years).

I feel like my main weakness would be my low GPA/lack of leadership roles in EC.

Recs: Should be pretty good.. teacher seems to know me/like me :o

The only problem I see is that you seem to have no interest in business per se. Your GPA and SAT are great but I don’t know if that alone will get you in. A lot of the people I know who got in had similar stats but a defined interest in business you but you certainly have a chance.

your best bet would be to apply to watson for bioengineering and switch over. Its easier to transfer into som from watson or decker than harpur. Your stats are fine, but extracurrics dont match SOM. In your essay try discussing how you did the whole medical thing for a while then realized recently that it wasnt for you. that may help. a good essay where your personality shines through will get you in just about anywhere so dont ket anyone detract you.
