I know my extracurriculars/leadership roles are weak but I’m hoping that my academics will be strong enough to push me through. Any suggestions and feedback are greatly appreciated!
Your profile looks great overall- your stats are awesome.
For any other school, this application would pretty much be an auto-admit. But this is “Stanford”, and it’s hard to get accepted to a school that like doesn’t even exist. (couldn’t resist, I saw you on r/chanceme.) Like I said, your profile is awesome, but I’m going to be extra critical because you’re looking to apply to Stanford ED and the pool is tough.
When I read your application, there’s nothing wrong with it, but there’s nothing that sticks out to me either. Yes, you have great stats, but so does everyone else. Yes, you went on mission trips, but so do kajillions of other kids. I don’t see that you have a spike. And that’s okay- that’s totally okay. Your app is quite strong without one. Not everyone that Stanford admits can be spiky. However, I don’t think your general ECs do you any favors.
Best of luck- Your application looks great overall. I hope that you get in.
Going off of what @newkidnewtrix said, I’d like to add a few things.
Your application, stats wise, could be absolutely flawless and Stanford could still turn you down. The one thing that would allow you to differentiate yourself from others who have similar stats to you would be your ability to convey your passion through your essays and the additional space that you’re given on the common app. This is a very crucial part of your application and the admissions process.
You are correct by saying that your EC’s are a bit lacking. This is mainly because they’re spread out among several different areas. You have nothing that would make the admissions office say “wow!” Like Newkid said, there’s no spike that really sets you apart from the other applicants. That’s completely fine. That’s what the essays are for, right? Just make sure you really set yourself apart and convey something ‘special’ about yourself. Whether it be your personality, passion, or past, as long as it’s interesting for the admissions committee to read and look through, I’d say you have a fair shot.
