EDIT: Added a list of schools I'm considering applying to.

HYPSM
UC Berkeley, Davis, LA, SD
Duke
Cornell
Dartmouth

Offered scholarships/regents at
USC
Brigham Young
University of Michigan

I’m a little confused. I don’t know who you are, is this a trick? Anyway, if you are just looking for chances, I would say you have as good of a chance as anyone at HYPSM and the lower Ivies, and you will probably get into the UCs. Best of luck!

=)

This isn’t supposed to be a “can you guess who I am” game, my fault if you got that impression. I was just unsure if I gave too much information.

all we know is that you’re from cali. no need to worry.

what’s your senior year schedule looking like? what are you interested in studying in college?

have you ever thought of applying to amherst or williams?

hypsm are reaches for everyone–with impressive essays based on your passions (what are they?) you can get in to all five. regardless, i’d expect two of the give to come through. UCs are easy for you. duke and cornell are likely as well, unless the adcom decides that you are unlikely to accept their offer of admission.

Senior year I will be taking SEC (student executive council, mandatory as i am a senior), AP English and AP Econ on campus. I will be taking sophomore physics (college) and multivar calculus. I will probably be holding down two part time jobs, one as a continuation of my summer internship and the other one as a math teacher for afterschool program.

I’m planning on doublemajoring either Physics and Econ/Philosophy or Mathematics and Education. Odd mixes, I know.

Amherst offered me a full scholarship if I join their Putnam team and jump through a few other hoops.

good work…so you’ll be highlighting on math experiences and such on your essays i assume.

out of curiosity, what is the name of the scholarship they’ll present to you?

I didn’t keep the letter as I wasn’t planning on applying to Amherst due to location and class size. I plan on tutoring through college, that way I don’t rely so heavily on aid or parents. Where I live, I can usually get $25 -$70 an hour depending on the course and level of detail/prep work.

I’m done with two common app essays so far, and both have nothing to do with mathematics, actually. One of them highlights my experiences with scouting, the way my troop has changed me and the way I’ve helped change it. The other is about my experiences with photography, whether it’s more art or journalism, etc.

Oh, and I will probably be including art supplements with all of my applications, including artistic photos, hobbyist photos (fire dancing mostly, looks more impressive on paper than in actuality) and some other cool things I’ve done this summer.

that’s a great idea. well, i guess you’ll work the math into those supplement essays where schools want to know about what you’d like to study, etc.

Thanks!

I see from your info that you got into Wharton. tips please? XD

Hahaha are you applying? As far as tips go, its all about the essays. Now that your scores, grades, etc. are basically set, take time out to write. I worked my *** for Wharton’s essays and, as a result, spent less time on those for other schools—come decision time, it showed.

I’ve put about 100 hours into each of the essays. I’m a bit of a grammar/flow nazi, so I’m not worried about syntax. I’ll just hope that my personality/point makes its way through the overdose of humor.

bumpity bumpity bump

You’re in dude…your stats are insane and you’re awesome in every possible way =)

Dude, you never needed to make this thread in the first place. Someone as intelligent as you surely must’ve known before posting that you have about as good a chance as anyone at these schools.

Seriously, what sorts of comments did you expect to get besides, “OMGZZZ YOU’LL GET IN ANYWHEREEEE”?

OMGZZZ YOU’LL GET IN ANYWHEREEEE as long as you don’t bomb those essays, recs, or have a bad behavioral record
