I know my GPA is a weakness to these schools but do I have any chance?

Get straight As first semester senior year and send them into your colleges as soon as you can send them. Your other stats are great and your ECs are pretty good. Write amazing essays and you could get accepted to any of these schools

I think your GPA is going to be an issue. Do your APs include what you are taking senior year? Cornell, Michigan, and CMU are all going to be major reaches. I’m not as familiar with the other schools on your list.

@momofsenior1 Yes those AP’s include senior year but my school is set up where kids start taking AP’s junior year

@doorrealthe Do you think that if I apply early decision to NYU Stern that I would have a better chance?

Yes definitely. ED means you are committed to the school and admission officers like that

NYU-Stern - No
University of Michigan-Ross - No
Carnegie Mellon-Tepper - Possibility
Wake Forest - yes
Villanova - yes
Boston University - yes
Cornell - No

Here’s why -

1 - the GPA is way too low. Nothing can compensate for that, especially for a school like Stern or Cornell.
2 - Regarding standardized tests, the ACT looks good, but the Math Subject Test isn’t going to cut it for those top schools, considering that your 780 is the 70th percentile.
3 - Your ECs are strong and definitely show an inclination towards a business major.

Good luck!

Your GPA is going to be a problem,

If your school has Naviance, check to see what the stats of accepted students is. What is the average GPA at your school for a typical student going to those colleges?

If your school practices grade deflation, then most colleges should know about the profile. Otherwise the low GPA compared to the high standardized test scores will make most of the schools on your list high reaches.

Villanova should be a match, but applications have increased exponentially due to the school’s success in the NCAA Basketball Championships.

Are all of those colleges affordable? I agree that your GPA is going to be a problem. Do you have any safety schools identified?

It’s difficult to chance you without your rank (where you stand in your class), but here’s based solely on your given stats:

NYU-Stern - high reach
University of Michigan-Ross - high reach
Carnegie Mellon-Tepper - reach
Wake Forest - match
Villanova - match
Boston University - match
Cornell - very high reach

Your GPA is a weakness. If you can manage to boost it especially the weighted one you might have a better chance at some of these schools.

Oh dang, I didn’t know JPMorgan Chase have high school interns. I would say GPA would be the biggest problem. While admission officers see your application and will know that you are remarkable, the GPA would raise a red flag because they need to make sure you can handle their course load. If there is a reason for the low GPA, you should explain to in your application.

Hate to break it to you but that gpa is low, so it’s going to be hard.
