Thank you all!
You need to ask your parents, first, what they can afford.
it is not of much concern as of now. I’m just looking for the best academic opportunity.
The reason I ask and others will ask as well, is because transfers don’t get much aid of any kind. Loans through a parent might be possible.
It’s easier to apply in-state to the in-state publics because they will be more affordable and more willing to accept a resident. OOS schools will charge OOS fees to non-residents.
Michigan will be expensive. It is a public university that does charge OOS fees.
USC is a private college with fees at $72K per year. Can your parents afford that without any kind of financial help?
It won’t do you any good to apply to schools that you won’t be able to attend because you can’t afford them.
They probably could, although I am considering law school. I am instate at Virginia if that helps.
Virginia has great schools!
Law school will be expensive after your undergrad.
Consult your parents about their college budget for you.
I am currently at one of the best ones (on par with UVA), but I am unhappy here. Do you think I could get into any of the above mentioned schools? I am transferring for mental health/social reasons.
I don’t know much about the other schools except for USC. They get a lot of applicants. Your HS stats don’t matter anymore. They look at current stats and ECs. Apply because you never know, but also be wary that you may not be accepted if there is no room.
Transfers have a harder time getting accepted because they have to hope that someone drops out of the university in order to “fit” and have a “seat” for the classes.
