Essays:

  • I would say good. I tried to include a personal element my gpa/extracurriculars couldn’t convey. I started programming at 15 after discovering it through recovering from my eating disorder in highschool. I got my GED and moved across the country on my own to go to college. I didn’t finish highschool due to my eating disorder and had to recover. I’ve been working since I was 15 (multiple jobs to help my family). my father is not from the us and never finished highschool. I was raised by my single mother. maybe my essay was a little risky but at the end of the day that is what happened to me. That is the jidst of what my essay was on… I mainly focused on my strengths.

I think you’re good for BU, Brandeis, and Northeastern.

I was rejected by CMU despite a 4.0 GPA (45 credits at time of application), Phi Theta Kappa, two national awards, 10+ years of work experience, As in their summer program and recommendations from their own professors. I have no idea what they want.

I’m applying to Cornell and Wash U as well. We shall see how they feel about community college grads with different backgrounds!

Yea honestly I am expecting rejection letters from CMU and UW Seattle just because of all of the stories I’ve heard about perfect candidates getting rejected. BU is one of my top choices but its expensive and am hoping I get enough fasfa. But yes! I’m definitely going to post my results here. Cornell would be a dream but is a reach
