Back in 2016, I applied EA for engineering, I was then deferred and then ultimately waitlisted. At first, I accepted the waitlist, but then later on during the summer, I took myself off of it because I wanted to get excited for college for certain. I ended up going to a state school ranked decently well for engineering (top 30 in the country). Anyways, I’m not enjoying it here as much as I thought I would and am planning on applying to U Mich for comp sci in their school of engineering (I am currently studying comp sci). I feel that my prior waitlist will help me out, especially if I explain it in the why UMich essay, but what are your thoughts? Below are my stats.
HS GPA: 4.2 W 3.7 UW
ACT: 33 (34 superscored)
NHS and some other clubs and sports. Nothing too crazy
College at top 30 Engineering School
GPA: 3.6 (Should be able to get it to 3.7 by end of this semester)
Also on the schools rowing team (club level unfortunately as they don’t have a varsity level)
In the bit of research, I’ve seen, it looks as if their transfer acceptance rate is around 40%. Unclear to what school within the university it is for though. This school was my first choice when I applied the first time and its now my top transfer choice. What are your thoughts and opinions? Thanks
