Chance me: Tufts and UPenn

Tufts and UPenn are my top two schools right now but I can’t tell if I even have a shot at Penn.
Stats:
97 unweighted gpa (my school is weird doesn’t do the 4.0 scale)
ranked around 10/450 in my class (once again, my school is weird so I don’t exactly know)
32 ACT (35 english, 33 math, 33 reading, 27 science-ugh) will take it again in June and I’m pretty confident I can get a 34 on my own and with Superscore for sure. Both schools Superscore
Taking subject tests in US, Math and Spanish-will hear back soon but will most likely get 700+ in all of them
AP tests: hopefully get a 4 or 5 on both, my school does pretty well with those
Classes:
school only offers 3 APs junior year- i took APUSH and AP Lang but otherwise take all honors classes except for physics
Senior year classes: BC calc, AP lit, AP euro, AP macro, AP spanish (dropping science and doubling up on history bc I am not into it at all)
ECs/awards:
3 years varsity basketball-2 years JV and voted captain as a freshman
Started my own basketball clinics in town and have made thousands through this
Was the youngest counselor to be hired for the summer camp that I work at (camp director found me through my business)
2 year Editor-in-Chief of award-winning newspaper (Scholastic competition)
president of String Buddies where I teach an elementary school orchestra
Section leader of school orchestra and chamber orchestra
Area all state violinist

President of Midnight Run club
National Honors Society and Music Honors Society

Recs:
APUSH teacher will probably write me a good one. We did these mock trials in class and she made me a lawyer which is a pretty big deal at my school
AP Lang teacher will also write a pretty good one because he is the advisor of the newspaper and I know him very well

Guidance counselor not really sure. I don’t know her too well and she’s known for being the worst one at my school.

Other info
I go to a pretty big public school in the suburbs of NYC but it’s one of the best in the state
I do not need financial aid

If you have a shot at Tufts, you have a shot at UPenn, and vice versa. They’re both incredibly hard to get into, so it’s hard to predict chances. Try to bump up your ACT score to get in the middle 50% (33+). Applying ED will help at both (more at Penn, IMO). What will get you in is great essays since everyone will have the numbers/extracurriculars. Good luck!

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are good. Get a 33 or a 34 on the ACT and you’ll strengthen your profile. Write great essays and you could get accepted to either school
