Hi! I am currently a high school senior and planning on applying ED to UPenn and, in particular, Wharton. While I already know my odds are not great, I would just like to get someone’s opinion on where my chances stand. I’ll try to provide as much info as possible without saying anything too personal or revealing.
Domestic Student (northeastern state)
Weighted GPA: 4.66 (additional info section explains why freshman and sophomore year grades are low)
Course Rigor: 10 APs (including senior year), around 12 or so honors classes
SAT: 1460 (680 ERW, 780 Math)
No SAT IIs
Personal Statement: I don’t mean to sound like a pompous a-hole, but I’d say it’s a 9 or 10 out of 10. Very unique hook that links my extenuating circumstances with my desire to help others thru government.
Supplemental Essays: Pretty good, researched a lot on the Penn website to answer them. Both are prob a 8 out of 10.
ECs/Awards: Debate club- Vice President (school position), member of regional leadership (regional position). 3 speaking awards
National Honor Society- Secretary (school position)
FBLA- just a member, 2 time states competitor
MUN- just a member
Community Service Organization- just a member
AP Scholar With Distinction
Italian Honor Society
Honor Roll (doesn’t matter ik lol)
Recommendations:
APUSH Teacher- liked me a lot, prob a 9/10
AP Calc Teacher- also liked me but not as much, 6 or 7/10
I know chancing is difficult but I appreciate any insight that anyone can offer me. Thank you!
