My DD was accepted to LMU with I think a 29 and a 3.7. She was a Theater major and had to send in an audition tape, so I don’t know how much of her acceptance was audition related or academics related, but if academics, looks like you have a great shot! She got a great merit package too. She goes there and loves it. We all love it, fantastic school.

thanks so much! merit money is super important in my decision so this really helps me out!

Congratulations on a stellar high school record! You have a shot at Tulane. Show lots of interest. Attend all the sessions. Stay in touch with your admissions counselor. Visit if you can. On the app, connect the dots from your interests, what really motivates you, your career plans, and link them to Tulane’s academic offerings, but don’t feel the need to stay in the silos of the departments. That is, take an interdisciplinary approach to how Tulane will enhance your professional, spiritual and intellectual aspirations. Tulane prides itself on being a mecca of interdisciplinary education. And while you’re at it, be specific about how you might contribute to community service in New Orleans. (Another Tulane mark of pride.) Best of luck to you!

thanks so much!

Vanderbilt & duke are really high reaches since your EC’s are pretty generic and your stats are below, UCLA & USC are still pretty high reaches and the others are reaches/targets

On the west coast: UCLA, no funding since you are an OOS student. It is a public school and all funding comes from the State of California. If your parents aren’t residents and don’t pay taxes in California, you will not receive much, if anything in funding.
USC, very expensive and very competitive. They will pony up ½ tuition IF you win National Merit. Otherwise, funding will be a toss-up.
Loyola Marymount: expensive and has limited funding.

@“aunt bea” thank you for your insight! do you have any California colleges that match my stats and give some merit money or good funding? I’d love to be out there but I need to be able to afford it.
