Chance Me: UCLA, USC, UCB, NYU, UIUC

I’m a Junior at Glenbrook North Highschool in Northbrook, Illinois (EXTREMELY competitive and difficult school… GPA is worth A LOT) and I want to apply to UCLA, USC, UCB, NYU, UIUC, and NORTHWESTERN for Civil Engineering

Unweighted GPA: 3.61
Weighted GPA: 4.5 (should be 4.5-4.6 by senior year)
ACT: 33 when I took it cold (Should get 34-35)
Class Rigor: ALL honors and AP classes (Math is AP CALC BC right now). Took AP Euro (4) and AP Macro (5) last year.
EC: DECA, Medical Club, president/founder of Coffee and Tea Club, board member of MTAC (Marrow Transplant Awareness Campaign), and I have interned at a civil engineering company for the past 2 summers

What are my chances? Thanks!

Bumppp we can get some responses-- I will chance back!!! Also, with how this semester is going, I should end up with a 3.67 UNWEIGHTED GPA and a 4.58 WEIGHTED GPA

UCB and UCLA calculate the weighted GPA using only 10th-11th grade courses and give bonus weighted points (A = 5.0) only for AP courses and NOT honors courses (since you’re out-of-state). What’s your UC GPA using this calculation?

UIUC admits almost entirely by class rank and ACT scores. Your ACT is fine for Engineering, but what about your class rank?

You can take a look at the UC Freshman admitted profiles for fall 2015 on this link:

Compare your stats with the “average” profiles.

FYI: The UC’s are very expensive to OOS students. You are aware that the UC’s provide little to no financial aid? Be prepared to pay $55K per year.

  1. UC GPA: 3.92
  2. My school doesn’t have class rank (Also I got a 35 on math section of the ACT if that helps)
  3. I know about the price and I will not be applying for financial aid for any schools! Thanks though!

UCLA and UCB will be slight Reaches with the below average UC GPA.

Your GPA is low for top UCs as well as for USC - low reach

How about UIUC, NYU, or NW?
